About Us

Watermusic LLC, the owner of Southerly USA and southerlyusa.com, was organized in 2004 specifically to market, in the US, the Southerly line of variable draft sailing vessels manufactured by Northshore Yachts, Ltd.

The managers of Watermusic, LLC, headed by Virginia Bray, president, saw the clear advantage the Southerly would have in the shallow waters that abound in Florida, the Chesapeake, and much of the connecting waterways. The ability of the Southerly to navigate otherwise inaccessible estuaries and anchorages belies the outstanding sea-keeping ability it exhibits with the keel fully employed. Southerly USA has had many occasions to demonstrate those very traits in and around their S110's home port of Bradenton, Florida, where they sail out of Twin Dolphin Marina on the Manatee River.

Heading up sales and service at Southerly USA is Dave Bagaus. Dave's experience dates back to the early seventies when he worked as a rigger and salesman for Midwest Yachts on Lake Minnetonka, and later for Classic Boat Sales on Lake Waconia, both in Minnesota. Dave saw six years of sea duty in the US Navy, and gained sailing knowledge racing NACRA catamarans, chartering extensively, and living aboard a 30 foot sailboat he restored in Longboat Key, Florida.

The name Watermusic was selected for the LLC to reflect the lifelong careers of both Ms. Bray and Mr. Bagaus as professional musicians, as well as their natural inclinations toward the sea, and Southerly sailing vessels.
